Homemade Kegerator

I just moved into a new place, and my roommate has a kegerator, so I have almost no experience, and he also inherited it from some one so he also has little experience. It's nothing fancy but an old fridge and he has a two faucet tower with only one faucet hooked up. I was looking to install a second line, what kind of tubing is recommended? We have it going out of the keg and through the wall to the other room, so about 8 or 9 feet of tube. Also is there a cheap way to insulate this tube enough? I put on pipe covers that are ment to cover plumbing pipes.
