Default Caffreys

Do you need the mixed gas for this beer?
And where can I find a list of beer distributors/manufacturers and the size of kegs they provide.
I would like to put 2 1/6 kegs in my kegerator but dont know what beer I can get.
I am in the Chicago area if that helps
Thanks

Hi Paul,
You need stout gas for Caffrey's (25 CO2/ 75 N). Sometimes called Beer Gas, Mixed Gas, or Stout Gas. Depends on who you talk to.

Can't help you on the dist question, sorry.
Cheers,
Steve

Ahhhhh a Caffreys fan! Now that's a true beer lover!! Draughtprophet is correct you need mixed gas (75%N/25%CO2) and a stout faucet to pour Caffreys. Now the bad news. Caffreys is no longer imported into the US. Coors I believe bought the rights and stopped importing it because it competed with Killians as I was told. Why is beyond me seeing the 2 beers couldn't be any different! I live in the Detroit area and started to buy my Caffreys in Windsor Canada but mind you that will set you back $350 a keg! Another alternative is to go to a brew your own beer place and get the Caffrey's recipe. I know of one in Canada that has the recipe but living in Chicago doesn't seem like an option. If you are ever in the Detroit area let me know I always have it on tap!

Molson/Coors has the distribution rights for Caffrey's here in the north, so that's probably why Coors de-listed it since it would be competing with Killians.

Our cheapest kegs start at $200 here. I bought a keg of Heineken last week for $289.65 (includes $50 deposit). Having a system that doesn't create any spillage is a must.
