Default Couple of Questions

I have a old converted fridge with a spout in front I just bought. I I have the co2 routed out the back with a 10 foot hose. The beer line is 10 feet. The liquid temp in the fridge stays around 38- 40.

I have a few questions:

First, the beer comes out really fast with any PSI over 5. I keep it around 3 and it works for a while then seems to get over pressurized to where it comes out all foam. I have to turn off the co2, let it out of the keg and start over. I have a Xacta gauge from 0-60PSI. I just had it replaced and it does not seem to be regulating correctly. I was wondering if it is absolutely essential to get one of those double gauges. Also, how come the beer comes out so fast that it foams if the PSI is over 5.

Please let me know what I can to to make it run correctly. All the lines are clean as I just replaced them.

10 ft beerline of what size? 3/16 I.D. is what you need,5ft=12.5lbs resistance. We need to know the liq. temp = the size of beerline.

Are you sure about the beer temp? Use a calibrated thermometer to check it. 40 deg is a little high. You'd need 14-16 psi at that temp to keep co2 in the beer, which will make it flow harder and make more foam. So what is the ID of your beer line? You should have 5 to 6 ft of 3/16" ID with a beer temp of 37-38 deg at 12-14 psi
