Sanyo is freezing
Hi, everybody. I purchased a new/damaged return Sanyo BC-1206 from a wholesaler. It's got a few dings on it, but nothing too serious. Problem is I can't get the temperature above freezing! I've tried various settings on the temp dial over the last few days, but it just freezes. Fortunately, I don't have a keg in yet; wanted to get the temp situated first so I'm just using glasses of water (which become ice) and a digital thermometer. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Other than the termostat is defective, are you adjusting in the correct direction?

Turns out to be a bad thermostat, which Sanyo will be replacing. Thanks for the tip.

After 6 weeks of runaround by Sanyo my unit is finally working! Like many others I am having a problem of pure foam coming out when I first pull the tap, clearing up after about 2 seconds. From reading the forums I have figured out that is due to the tower not being cold. Fellow Sanyo BC-1206 owners: how did you specifically solve this issue? I looked at the blowers on this site, but being very mechanically uninclined, I need some help.
FYI: I have a keg of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, cooler temp is 35*, Co2 is 12lb, elevation is 553 feet.
Thanks for any and all help!

Check out the link to the 15 CFM blower & 1" flex tube. Mount the blower with screws out of the way of the keg and tapping equipment. Route the flex tube from the blower up into the tower just short of the shank behind the faucet. If uncomfortable with the wiring, consult with an electrician. Hangar brackets may make installation easier. Installing these components can assure constant temperature in the tower.

Scott,
Where do you draw the power for the fan from? I guess you could drill a small hole in the back/side and fit a power cord through, but I'd rather not drill mine. If drilled, what do you use to seal the hole once the cord is in, a grommet?
thanks,
Mike

Mike, basic wiring with some path outside to power source. A grommet or plumbers putty/silicone would suffice for a seal.
