Little black box on top of the keg

Just out of curiosity, what is that little (2" x 2") black plastic cube screwed to the top of my Newcastle keg? I've seen it before on some imported kegs at the bar at work (airport); figured it's maybe RFID for inventory.

You are correct, it is some form of an RFID type unit. It may not be the exact technology but serves the same purpose.
