beverage air ony cooling liquid to 49 deg
i just purchased a used older bev air bm23, everything seems to be working fine at a glance. the tower line blows cold air out of it, i can feel cold air coming from behind the box inside the "fridge", and the fan is running fine (although it blows air inside the "box" rather than push out). the condenser seems to come on and off fine (although maybe it turns off too soon) and when i open the door it seems cold inside. the problem is i can only get a liquid temp of 49 degrees, even after letting it run all day and night...is this a thermostat problem? if so is that fixed by simply replacing the adjustment knob? is there any other easy fix ideas for this problem?
also want to add i cleaned out the "radiator" from inside the box and the coils by the condenser, they werent very dirty to begin with

I have the same unit with a similar situation, only cooling to about 40. Can't seem to get those last 2 degrees down, anyone got an idea?

One problem I had initially was that i never noticed that the cooling fan next to the compressor in back of the unit had a bent fan blade from transit and didn't spin, letting me get to only about 55 degrees. Three days of that somewhat spoiled a half barrel of Blue Moon (threw a party and let friends guzzle it). With the fan spinning, I get to 40-42 degrees liquid.
On advice from an A/C mechanic at work, I opened the coil box in the unit and moved the sensing tube for the thermostat so that it sat as far from the coil inside the box as possible. That capillary tube is the wire in a plastic tube that comes out of the lower left corner of the box and runs right across the back inside wall of the unit. Carefully, I bent it a bit so that the short bit of it inside the box is away from the coil. Hopefully, this will have the thermostat running the compressor longer. Just did it now, tomorrow morning we'll see if it's any colder....
On a side note, do you have the tower cooling tube (ribbed 1" tube) pushing air? This tube gets stuck into the tower to cool it.

i bought a replacement t-stat, that did the trick. the idea i of taking out the t-stat temp coil and moving it out from the condenser coil seems like a worthy enough idea, although my replacement t-stat only cost me 30 bucks and a half hour..
other things you may want to try..making sure your compressor coil is very clean, by blowing it out with air and vacuuming it out. making sure there is no ice built up anywhere on your coils, and making sure your door seal is air tight.
on the side note yes i have a blower going to my tower.

The only time mines (BM23) failed to cool properly was after transporting it and not letting the machine settle before plugging it in.

I have a DD94 and I had the same problem, mine would only cool to about 55 degree's then the lines would freeze up. After switching out the thermostat for a new one everything is working great again giving me beutifull 35 degree beer.

so basicly, clean the coils, and if that doesnt do it.. replace the t-stat.
The t-stat is the temperature control knob right?
My BM23 always worked great.. then it sat for a while.. now it seems to do the same thing. Gets to like 50 degres, and the box in the top back with the temp control and the fan (the condenser?) will ice over completly.

Well keep us posted. Before I installed mine, it was at about 48degres, after it dropped it to like 41, and my condenser still ices over.. so I think I have more issues than just that.
