Default Danby T-stat won't keep setting

The up and down buttons to set the temp for my danby are not working right. Sometimes pressing the down button will make the temp setting go down, sometimes it will make it go up, sometimes it won't do anything. Then after finally messing with the buttons and getting the setting where you want it, the temp setting will magically change on it's own, sometimes going higher, sometimes lower.

This couldn't be more frustrating.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Unfortunately these thermostats seem to be crap. You will probabally need to replace it with a better one.

Get rid of the Danby controls. As Ed said, they are useless even when they work as Danby designed them. Micromatic sells temp controls that are intended for converting freezers to kegerators. One of those would be a better option than even considering fixing the Danby controls.
