Default Used Kegerator Leak At Tap

Hi experts I'm new to this, i usually consider myself pretty handy but i'm stumped, all of my connections are tight and sealed shut, the source of my leak is actually around the post of the plunger, upon turning on the CO2, which is set correctly, gas streams out around the entire base of the shaft that's pushed down when you tap the keg, it's a usedkegerator, i just want to know is is somehting i'm doing or do my roomates and i need to buy a new tap, thanks!

You are probably missing the washer that goes between the beer line and the coupler. Untap the keg, turn off the gas and undo the hex nut that attaches the beer line to the coupler (the things that goes into the keg). There should be a black washer in there, if not you've found the source of your leak. If not check the other ones as well, with what you describe I wouldn't be surprised if it was the washer on the gas side of the coupler. You can find replacement washers at Micromatic for a buck or so. Good luck!

it is going to be either the body gasket located on the very bottom of the coupler or the probe gasket located on the very bottom and in the center of the probe that actually engages the keg

Here is a link that details all of the parts on a coupler. This is a "D" coupler, used for most domestic brands. If you're pouring an import, it will be slightly different.
Good luck.
Cheers.
