Default Can you taste the gas?

I just dropped my beer temp to right around 32 degrees from 38. It tasted funny and I assume it was due to not lowering the pressure. It is a Sam Adams Lager and I love the cold pour and have adjusted the pressure so taht it tastes better, but it is really pouring slowly. It is near 6psi. Does that sound right?

6 psi is too low. Sam Adams should be served at 38-42 degrees with 13 psi CO2 (according to the brewery). The rule is to drop the CO2 pressure 1 lb for every 2 degrees colder. So that means you should be closer to 9 or 10 psi for 32 degrees.

You can't taste the gas, and at 32 you can't taste the beer either. When your beer is 38 degrees, it has the flavors intended by the brewer. The colder you get, the more of that flavor is masked, so it probably tasted funny to you because the flavors you had been experiencing at 38 were gone.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed.
Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might
be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself,
"It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than
be selfish and worry about my liver."
