Default Gas Cylinder

Just finished my first keg of Guinness using my home kegerator system. I have a 20lb tank using the nitrogen/CO2 Guinness mix. I was dispensing at about 30-32psi which seemed about right. Wondering how long my tank should be lasting. The pressure regulator is reaching the red zone already just under 500. Started out just above 1500. Is this normal? Does the gas need to remain on constantly while the keg is tapped to remain fresh? That's what I've done. Or can it be shut off when not in use. Thanks.

This seems normal. I would not be to worried about the red zone with blend gas in the cylinder. When the gauge gets close to zero and then the low side gauge begins to drop is when you need to get another cylinder. Unless you have a pressure leak, there is no need to turn off the gas when not in use.
