Faucet Question

When cleaning faucets I notice that the lever can be put into the faucet two ways. I assume this is so you can configure the tap to stand how you want it (either straight up or leaning into the wall). Is this a correct assumption or is their a specific way they need to go? Second, if there is meant to be an option is there an easy way to determine which way is which? I see can see the actual difference but it is so subtle that I find my self staring at the thing for longer than I need to. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance for the help.

The shank is Bend. They did this to get clearance. The long knobs that they are using just helps mm sell parts.

The brass or S/S lever inside the faucet starts off straight. Sometimes it will become bent by an over zealous bartender or intenionally bent by someone as to not hit the back plate. In this instance an angle bonnet should be used.The lever should not be bent intenionally for any reason. If it's in the original shape the faucet was bought in and the tap marker is the same on both sides, the lever is reversable.

I see what you are saying but I am referring to an actual difference in the round bottom that sets in the tap. If you look at it there is a distinct difference in the arcs, as I said it is subtle but it is there. I just received a brand new lever and if you set it in one way the tap stand up relatively straight, the other way it tilts back a little nore. I can see the advantage of such a feature but I have trouble with getting them all the right way sometimes. I am sure that some bartenders have added to the angle by bending it which makes it an even more drastic difference. Thanks for the help.

Just so we're on the same page, your speaking of the MM part # 4312 brass lever or # 4313 stainless lever. If so I've been doing this quite a while and have never noticed any difference buy reversing directions on a NEW lever. Are you sure the tap marker isn't what is the problem?

sometimes the pistons are machined diffrently and the lever will only fit one way stainless levers seem to be aliitle thicker then brass levers this is a tooling issue I dont think it will affect the pour or am I misunderstanding the question?

What's a piston? Never heard that term. Shaft assembly?
