Default Perlick smart coupler

I was recently called on a weekend when the customer could not reach a beer distributor or the company that installed a new system.
The system had only been installed for a few days and one beer was not pouring -- the cause being a perlick smart coupler(FOB)that would not reset. I tried cleaning it and moving the knob very slowly to the on position. I also tried it on another keg and finally just eliminated it and replaced it with a standard keg coupler. It was only a 10 foot run and not necessary.

Does anyone know any tricks to reset them?

These devices have caused numerous issues all across the U.S. Normally it is due to lack of maintenance. Someone did a heck of a sales job on a 10' system.

I have been working with them for about 6 years. they do work great but can be trick to reset.Would like a picture of it but most often if you open the facuet then turn the knob on the smart coupler they will start to work. Should be cleaned through the couple,I will agree someone did a good sell job.

ah the wonderful perlick smart coupler, larry is correct they can work great but left unattended they can be quite troublesome i have pretty much eliminated them because of the amount of trouble calls, however most of the new chain dining accts swear by them so we continue to educate. great tip about opening the faucet larry will store in the memory banks.
