    Default New Install

Im a director of a private nonprofit organization an we recently built a 40 ft bar for our functions. We would like to run draft beer for the bar. We have a TRUE refrigerator that holds 3 kegs. we would like to run three products to two towers. The refrigerator will be directly under the bar. The towers will be 15' and 35' away. what dia. beer line will i need? What else will I need? any help would be great. I will be doing the install as I have not found anyone in the area that will do it. I spoke to the big beer companies and they wont do it unless under contract.

You need to answer a few more questions before equipment recommendations can be made.

    1. For a 15' system you could probably get away with a blower system pushing cold from your True cooler to your tower, however 35' is more of a challenge and really demands glycol cooling.

Does your budget and space planning include provisions for a glycol cooler and the lines to support it?

Your line requirements will depend on your cooling aparatus and other factors. You must keep the beer in the line at the same balanced cold temperature in order to pour beer without foaming.

When you say you want three products at two locations, are these to be the same products? If so, you'll have your work cut out for you! Balancing such a system is tough but it can be done by using the correct equipment and modifying your line lengths and diameters. Ideally you will be using mixed gas to drive the beer, however you will face challenges of either over or under carbonating the beer if your line lengths are different. Several people have overcome this by using several sets of the longest line length required in order to simplify system balancing, the lines are typically coiled one one side or the other depending on the type of cooling being used.

What are your ambient operating temperatures expected to be? Keep in mind the heat load of all the bodies you expect to be present at your event!

A system like this would have to be glycol. The True cooler is only meant to cool the area of the cooler itself. 4-5' away, you may be able to get away with it, but any more than that, you would need glycol. You would have to add restriction at the tower end of the 15 foot run to balance with the 35 foot run. More details are needed. Tapman

Tapman knows his stuff! The True kegerator will not be capable of transferring heat via an air cooled system. It is designed to maintain a specific cubic foot space only. You will end up wasting so much beer that you would have been able to purchase a glycol set up ten times over.

Check out Micro Matic's Business Directory for a potential installer in your area. Or, due to the complexity of this type of an install - gas blender, glycol unit, trunk line, "Y"s, glycol towers, etc. Check your private messages and we can coach you over the phone.

Well I remeasured today it is 15 feet to the first tower location and 27 feet to the second tower location. what I ment by 3 products is 3 kegs and 3 taps on each tower. We are in Monterey, Ca so the weather is relatively cool year round. are glycol systems large?

No. You will require this size glycol power pack and four product 5/16" ID barrier with two glycol lines trunkline. Use this tower at each location and dispense with a gas blender at 20 to 25 PSIG.

Using this panel and beer "Y" allows you to dispense to two different locations from the same keg.
