Default Stainless vs Plastic FOB

I'm going to get draught lines installed. I'm running an overhead line and was told air pockets could become a real issue. I have about a 50' line i believe from my walkin cooler. I was told i should go with a stainless fob, but at the same token am not sure if the $800 extra cost is worth it. Could someone please tell me the real benefit (if any) of using the stainless fob instead of plastic in my situation.

-Cheers!

Duration! Stainless lasts longer than plastic.

Air pockets have nothing to due with the FOBs. This is normally due to an inefficient system that is incapable of maintaining temperature between the keg and faucet.

The FOB simply detects an empty keg and prevents the line between the FOB and faucet from emptying.

Default Fob

I've been told by a lot of people that the FOBs eliminates the air in the line when a keg is blown. Is that wrong? I thought without the FOBs that air can get into the line when retapping kegs which leads to wastage...

Please clarify! Thanks!

FOBs will eliminate most of the air pockets in the lines resulting from a keg emptying, but will not eliminate the air pockets resulting from temperature, pressure or restriction issues. Tapman
