Default Faucets not fitting properly

I am a draft tech. with Budweiser in Atlanta, went to repair a broken faucet, removed the faucet replaced the lever then I was unable to put the faucet back on the collar screwed on, but not far enough for the piston to seat inside the shank. The tower was not a micro matic but the faucet was.the threaded portion of the faucet seemed a little large than most faucets. How did somebody get it on there to seat properly?I used a faucet wrench because I was unable to tighten the collar by hand. Is there a certain technique or trick that I am missing?

We are pleased you posted the problem - we certainly want to know about any problems with the products in the field. I am still not clear on where the problem was:
1. Was it the threads on the back of the faucet body where it attaches to the coupling nut on the tower?
2. Or did changing the lever affect the shaft instead the faucet?

It could be that the threads on the tower are cross-threaded or striped. It could be that someone servcing the faucet previously had a problem and put in an extra faucet washer to seal it. Let me know.

The problem appears to be the threaded portion of the faucet is to large for the collar on the tower, but somebody got that faucet on there somehow.

How tight was it? At times junk gets into the threads and does not allow for hand cranking the whole way. If it went on the rest of the way with a wrench it is probably just dirty threads. If it was really bad maybe the threads are really bad.

I'm also a Draft Tech for Budweiser, I've had the same issues, seems that stainless steel vs. others,,,,,,,, sometime the threads are different.

If the threads are different, possibly this could be the result of an euro style faucet on a domestic shank. Or vice versus. Possibly not. During the last ten years, there has been a lot of development on stainless faucets. Stainless is harder metal than brass and is less forgiving while machining. The tolerances must be kept close. Some of the original faucets manufactured may have been off slightly and therefore may not fit or pour properly. If you know who manufactured the faucet, contact them or the vendor on your problem. Hopefully they can rectify your problem with a replacement.

Stainless by far is a much better product than brass as to beer contact. It is not bio friendly and stays cleaner longer. When dirty, it cleans rapidly.
