To pump or not to pump

Just wondering, when you're at a backyard party and they have a keg with a pump, do you pump when the tap is open or closed?

Don,t worry so much about when to pump. It does not matter as much as acquiring a 38F beer temperature.

Actually, you are better off pumpimg with the faucet open as in filling a glass of beer. Pumping with the faucet closed can over pressureize the keg if too many people start pumping.

doesnt make a diff if it is open or closed, most ppl are tipsy anyway, if your folks are like my neighbors for a block party, keep it cold and pump away until the cows come home! []
