F.O.B.'s Triping on full kegs
I have installed the DFC 45WM Plastic Beer FOB's in a cold air shaft system and two of them trip on a regular basis. They are installed level above the secondary panel and are tied into a drain system along with the others. They have been replaced with new ones from Micro-Matic and one continues to trip after sitting for a period of time. Has anyone had this happen and what fix did it take to correct??

An air shaft system is only good for about 20 - 25 feet so you should not need them. How long are your lines? Have had that problem only on the DCF45WM - If you bleed them as someone is pouring a beer off it usually corects the problem.

I agree with the not needing the FOB's but you already have them so why not. Sounds like you have a system balance problem. What is the applied pressure, and the flow rate? Most likley you have the CO2 escaping around the beer and getting up into the line because there is not enough applied pressure incomparison to the resistance built into the system. What is the ID size of your jumper hose from the keg to the FOB?

It's a 5/16" jumper line from a preassembled secondary panel. I am in total agreement with not needing the F.O.B.'s but when money is of no object and the guy dosen't want beer spiting out at the faucet I can certinly oblige. The line from the secondary panel is 3/8" ID and is 6'. The rise on the system is 12'.

Air is getting in somehow and tripping the FOB. Check the tapping device. Make sure the valve for the keg is in good working order and the kegs are tapped tight with a good seal.

Foambuster,
I sent you two emails, I didn't realize you already posted the location of the FOB's. Please email me the other info I need. Thanks, Vern

If you are using CO2 to dispense, be certain your pressure is correct. If you have degassing due to low pressure, the gas will collect at the FOB and the float will drop prematurely. Warm keg delivery is normally the culprit. Contact me to discuss.

Scott,
I emailed foam busters and we figured out that there was not enough restriction in the system for the applied pressure. The restriction was corrected and the fob's are working fine.
