You think it tastes good in a bottle, you should try the draught.[ ]

that was some tasty stuff I have to admit. warmer temps are just around the corner and time for the keg thing soon, just getting into the craft brews too much and spending too much $$$

Mark & Scott, sorry to have missed this thread when it was "fresh' but I've been busy as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest! Last weekend we moved to a new house that is 15 minutes from work instead of an hour and a half. Then Monday I had a business trip that kept me out of town till late last night. Needless to say the new house is still upside down and we wont have the new internet hookup till mid next week. Mark, glad you got a taste of Amber Bock, but like Scott said, you really need to try it on tap, sooooo much better! I am currently trying to find a new beer guy close to home. I'll let you know how it goes....

Update on my search for a new beerman. The only place I can find within a 50 mile radius that can get my beloved Amber Bock in kegs only gets a visit from the disributor once a week! Soooooo, I am going to have to keep a very close eye on my kegs to make sure I order the week before I expect to blow empty, plus they only do Amber Bock in sixtels here instead of the half barrels I was getting before so I will be swapping out kegs three times faster. I guess in the long run that will be better since the beer should be fresher on a regular basis, I will admit that I have had a 1/2 barrel or two go past the magic 45 day service life in the past, but I didn't notice any off taste, maybe because I keep my system at 35 degrees instead of 38 I might get a few extra day, not sure, I just know I like my beer as cold as I can get it without having ice issues and 35 seems to be perfect. [?][?][?]Scott, does that beer strip thing work on sixtels?[?][?][?]

Didnt you say you have a converted fridge Chuck? one of those should hold @ least 3 sixtels so you dont run out. my unit will hold 2 sixtels, possibly 3 with the co2 bottle as well. just sittin here thinking bout what my next keg will be, Stella Artois (some dam good stuff), Sam Adams summer ale, Heineken, Amber bock? hmmmmm decisions, decisions we will see. and by the way, screw the model train crap, decided to get into airbrushing, anybody looking for some kikazz tee shirts or custom license plates, or maybe some custom car painting? never know

Email sent, the cable guys should be hooking us up at the new house today so I will be back online on a regular basis again. I thought about keeping a spare sixtel chilled and waiting to go, it's just a matter of another keg deposit...

Seem's I may have created a monster... I am picking up a quarter barrel of Amber Bock tommarow, I will have to drive about 40 minutes to get it but it's a much better deal than the sixtels they are offering locally. It's amazing how much price difference there is in the exact same beer in various places in the same state. I was paying $75 for a half barrel 90 miles north of here. I will get a quarter barrel of the same beer 30 miles east of here for $48 or, and this really kills me, I could get a sixtel of the exact same beer here for, drumroll please.... $54!!!! What the heck is with the pricing difference? I know it isn't a shipping cost thing, I'm closer to the AB brewery here than either of the other two...

I called the store today and they did not place my order, they got it mixed up with the new michelob ultra bock, a lite beer. also, cant get 1/4 barrels here, sixtels and 1/2 barrels only. had them order the sixtel, $25.25 not a bad price, probly blow that in a week

Picked up my 1/4 barrel of Amber Bock Saturday, got home and hooked it up, adjusted my preasure and tapped off the air in the lines then resisted the temptation to draw one and let it sit over night to settle. Pulled the first beer off it yesterday afternoon and it poured text book perfect. I LOVE MY SYSTEM!
By the way, great price on that sixtel Mark, better get a spare for when it blows, nothing worse that wanting a cold beer and getting half a mug of foam....

I just cleaned my line tonite hoping the amber bock will be in tomorrow. their stock says they have a sixtel of killians irish red as well, so if they do I will get both. Chuck, what do you use to clean your beer line?, the gravity fed chemical bottle or the pressurized one.

I use a one quart pump pressurized bottle. I just cleaned my system saturday before tapping the new keg. I tend to go above and beyond the recomended cleaning though and take everything down as far ans I can and give it all a good scrubbing in the solution after I run the line then rinse it all with plenty of clear water. It may be overkill but I never have any problems so it must work.

Great to hear Mark. My 1/4 has been getting a workout with the warm weather here, hate to think how many I am going to go through once our hot Georgia summer shows up! Funny you say it rolled all around your truck, I never have that problem, I put a banket in the passenger seat then sit the keg there and seatbelt it in. I get a few strage looks at stoplights but my kegs don't get all shook up!

Ive had them on the inside floor of my p/u before, but when the lil one travels with me, the keg rides in the bed. I keep my spare tire in there and that usually keeps it stable, not last nite tho.

Another way I have secured a keg in my truck is sit it in the corner created by the tailgate and the inside of the bed then run a stap from the keg handle to the tie down I have in my stake holes. I use this same method for transporting the LP tank for my fish/turkey fryer.

Yeah it does go down smooooth, not that I've ever thought that was a problem. Gotta say I'm still a bit surprised that it took this long for a beer hound like you to even try it... I guess I should be worried about the whole supply and demand thing, with both of us drinking it prices are sure to go up!

I know that sixtel is dam near beat, put a pretty good size dent in it this long weekend. and it is strange that the stores can only get sixtels and 1/2 barrels of bock, doesnt make sense to me. but the good thing is a store I was getting my lite from last year (4 miles away) can get 1/2 bbl for the same price compared to the mega store 16 miles away where I get most of my kegs. just waiting for the Sam Adams summer ale to come around here yumyum
