Default I must have the worst luck ever!

OK last night just before bed the Mrs asked me to get her a couple of pints from the kegerator to put in the slow cooker with the corned beef for tonight (St Pats Day). So I grabbed a pitcher and about two ounces into it I get that Whoosh of CO2 that is the bane of every home tapper, yep I blew empty. Now normally this wouldn't be that big a deal, I can call my keg guy and have another the next day, but, this keg blew after his closing hours and he needs 24 hour notice to get a keg from the distributor. So I'm on bottles for St Pats Day. But wait it gets even worse. The distributor don't deliver on Saturdays or Sundays, so I wont have a new keg till Monday night after I get off work, which once I install it, clean my lines and give it time to rest, now were talking no tap beer till Tuesday! [?]Scott, whats the status of that strip y'all were workin on for estimating beer left in a keg?[?] I would chalk it up to that old "Luck of the Irish" thing and all but I aint Irish! Besides I never understood the luck of the Irish thing anyway, after all if they were lucky, they wouldn't be Irish to begin with...

[V]Ouch! Chalk that up to bad karma? Tell me it is not so. Strip will be available within the week. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Sounds like you need too find a second keg distributor for times like these. We have a couple of local stores that have a pretty good selection of kegs on hand at all times (of course, I live right next to UNH and they have to keep the college kids happy), so if the distributor is closed (and it closes at 4:30) or Redhook can't hook me up on short notice, I can always hit one of these places in a pinch. Can't see the stip being a whole lot of help unless you have someplace to store a second keg. True, you will know when you are low, but I can't see being accurate enough to say "go get a new keg as you have only two beers left in this one", if you know what I mean.

My thought about the strip is if I am getting real low I can have my guy get me a keg and keep it at the store, he don't mind holding for like a week or so, he just dont keep Amber Bock kegs on hand.

Scott,
Hmmmm, sounds like you are asking me to do some product testing, lets see, my normal test fee is $9.99, so if you subtract the cost of the strip....

I'm still iffy on how much beer is left according to the strip. And the temperature readout is certainly nowhere near accurate. But it was only four and a half bucks.
