If it's a permanent system you shouldn't be putting a cold plate in it. Cold plates are designed for short time use, in coolers for special events. Under these circumstances you need to keep the barrel under 50 degrees, the cold plate on a rack in the cooler with drain open, and ice on it. Running the beer at 26-28 lbs will work fine for one event usage. There is absolutley no good reason to put a cold plate in a permanent install!

Great fourm.....thanks for the reply, this is a party cooler. double tap setup. i changed the lines and did not do any calculations for temp, pressure. and all i was getting was foam.
before asking a dumb noob question, i read all the threads on foam. my new lines were only 8' of 5/16.....not nearly enough back pressure. so i am now re-doing the cooler with the correct lenght and sizes.
wish i had read sooner...wasted a 5gal. bucket trying to stop the foam. live and learn.

Default an up date.

well, i tapped my cooler today after re-doing the lines. and here is the results.... warm keg (room temp) double product cold plate,15' of 5/16" line from keg to cold plate, 5' of 3/16" line from plate to faucet. co2 set to 24lbs.
tapped, bled the line ...filled with ice and waited for 20 mins.
NO FOAM!!!!, well the first glass, but after that PERFECT POURS!! and plenty cold enough. thanks for having all the info here for a noobie like me to read. i would of never guessed that the line size and lenght woud of created foam. i guess since i dont refridgerate the keg....i better get back to drinking!
THANKS.
