  • Soooo....how much $$ are you in for?

***This information must NEVER be divulged to any spouse, girlfriend, or any significant othrer***

I placed my order for some more equipment last night (2nd faucet, shank, add-on regulator, beer cleaner, ect..). In doing so, I started to add up how much I've spent on this kegerator over the 2 1/2 months that I've had it.

Beer not included....I'm pushing about $500. The funny part is that my fridge only cost me $9.00 to start with.

The regulators were the big ticket items. $110 for those. The Perlicks were also expensive..about $60.00 for the two of those.

I'm also guessing I've spent about $60.00 in shipping from all of the different sites and on E-Bay.

Hmmmm...I could have purchased a LOT of good beer (in 12 packs) for what I've spent on this kegerator and kegs of beer.
    On tap:
    1/2 bbl of Lienenkugel's Original

Gone, but not forgotten: (Sadly, Walter Payton's is gone)
    Sixtel of Sam Adams OctoberFest
Sixtel of Walter Payton's Peat Smoked Scotch Ale
Corny of Payton's Dancing Bear Honey Wheat
Corny of Walter Payton's Aurora Amber Ale (both a malty and extra hoppy version)
Corny (3 gal) of Coconut Rum and Cola
Corny of Walter Payton's Beauregard's Blueberry Ale
Corny of Walter Payton's Sweetness Stout on Nitro
Corny of Rock Bottom's Belgian White Ale

I am about to blow $300 on the Nitro system so I can include stouts im my list of brews!

I would much rather put that money toward draft beer rather than six packs of bottles..especially with the stouts.

This is all on top of the $1200+ I spent on the kegerator.

        so far.

        90 for my first kegerator.
        250 for the second.
        130 for the temp control.
        20 for tower cooler componets.
        43 for my S coupler
30 bucks for the perlick spout.

So I am about at 563 total. my 1st kegerator still works and I may sell it to recoup some of my costs. I didnt include the cost of beer and co2 as they are both a rotating cost alway needing replenishment, plus if you roll the cost of the co2 into the cost of the beer you are still saving over buying bottles.

my cleaning stuff came with my first kegerator...what a deal I know.

If she's not your wife, you SHOULD tell her.

If she gets upset, then you know what you're getting into, and you can pack her things for her while you drink some beer.

If she doesn't care, or is encouraging, then you've got yourself a keeper!

It is my opinion that you can't equate the cost of pleasure. When you do you deflate the value of that pleasure.

                            Agreed.

And, to keep it OT, a few years back I was "gifted" an old Sears Kenmore Kegerator that was left for dead. I plugged it in and it got cold. It was in horrendous condition, so I rehabbed it.

I customized it, (pimped it out Redskins style). I'd post pics, but I can't do so from work.

I kept the tower, coupler and regulator. I was also given a couple of 5lb CO2cylinders.

The top was one of those cheap, ugly vinyl-covered particle boards. It had been partially exposed to the weather, so it was rotted out. I made a new top, out of solid wood. While I had the top off, I cleaned up the electronics, and installed wiring for a tower cooler. I bought one of those Dayton blowers, and installed that to cool the tower.

I replaced the rotted out styrofoam, where the electrical and thermocouple wires go into the box, with electricians(?) putty. I also added insulation between the bottom of the top and the top of the fridge.

Between the paint, wood, line-cleaning kit, etc, I probably dropped around $150.00 - $200.00 for the initial rehab.

I've since bought one of those forward-sealing SS Perlick faucets,(which I can't recommend highly enough), a new shank/elbow assy, a new door panel and door gasket seal. I also added more insulation to the tower,(because of the condensation caused by the cooling fan), which was a bear, because the tower is 2 1/2".

That stuff probably cost me another $100.00. I was gifted a small A/C fan, to circulate air in box, which I installed a few months ago.

                            So...all told.....I'd say I dropped around $300.00.

It would've been worth it if I had spent twice as much, because the kegerator looks great, works great and I love having fresh draft beer at home....
                            Hail to the Redskins!

                              $400 for used Bev-Air fridge
$150 for tower, cooler and misc parts
$150 for cornys and more misc plumbing

I tell my wife but always compare my total to what a new BM23 would cost, which is what we looked at first
