  • New member with faucet question on garage sale find

Hello new member here. I found a perlick model CS1DP at a garage sale for $30. The faucet appears to have a piece missing at the front of the spout (please see images). Is this normal or is there a piece missing?image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

It is missing a part - the faucet shaft. I don't know anything about the CS1DP specifically, but I do know that you can buy brand new Perlick stainless forward closing faucets for around $40, so it may have not been the most prudent investment for a broken brass faucet.

Thanks, I thought there was a cap missing. I will replace the faucet. I was just wondering if it was missing a cap or something. All the faucets I looked at seemed to be solid at that position.

The "cap" you see on a rear closing faucet is actually the front of the shaft. It is part #9 in the picture. Front closing faucets do not have this part as they are made differently. If you are buying new, get a stainless rear closing faucet.

Thanks again. I am going to tear it down and refer to the diagram. Definitely a new faucet needed.

After further tear down and inspection, it looks like everything is there according to the diagram djc supplied.

              Dkmaclachlan,
So you are saying you got entire unit for $30? With tank and regulator?, if so great deal. I would replace both shank and faucet and pick up new gear (hoses, faucet wrench, cleaning gear, etc).

Funny I read that that the CS1DP was the faucet part number. You got the kegerator for that? Before you invest any money, put a 5 gallon bucket in it and make sure it gets down to sub 38 degree temps.

Yep kegerator and all including empty keg for $30. The wife said I about broke her neck stopping when I saw it at the end of the driveway. Not sure how accurate the thermometer iis that came with it. I have readings as low as 20 and as high as 45. I have been trying to mess with the thermostat it seems a little wonky and I may have a door seal leak. Difinately will take all the advise before I dump money into it. Thanks for all the advise and quick response.

Air temperature doesn't mean anything, it is too volatile. 5 gallons of water is the way to go.

                        Dkmaclachlan,
Yup, what djc said, check out my newbie thread:

Throw a large container of water inside, set thermostat not more than 3/4 full and WAIT 24 hours and see what the liquid temperature is, then you will see if it will handle a keg properly, air temperature will fluctuate wildly depending if compressor is on or not, liquid temperature is all that matters.
I'm not sure if the shank (thingee faucet is connected to that is on tower) is meant for tower mounting or not but seems longer than what I have, post pictures of gear to confirm if you need to change or not.

LOL I went into one account last week for a beer change, so I get some BLC in my canister, go down to the basement ( hilton hotel, cooler is 2 floors down) hook it up, get upstairs at one bar and the faucet looked exactly like the OP's... I was like WTF!?? Go back downstairs, unhook canister... get back upstairs and remove the faucet, take it apart and the plunger was pushed all the way back behind the stem... what in the hell.

Showed the manager and was like look someone took this apart for this to be like this and it wasnt me God I hate it when people eff with things when they have no clue what they are doing lol
