  • My Outdoor Concrete Bar Build

I wanted to have a maintenance free bar on the patio, overlooking the lake. Here are the progress pictures of the project:

    Materials have arrived.

Trailer unloaded and mixer set up.

Day one finished. First coarse is laid and re-bar drilled into patio.

Day two, remaining block laid and re-bar for bar top in place.

Electrical is in. I put dirt and sod on tarp, sod is lined up in the order I dug it out so it can be placed back in the original place.

I tapped in to an outlet that provided electricity for bird bath heater.

Sod and dirt are back in place.

All masonry work before this was performed by experienced mason. He never built a concrete bar so it was my job to build the "trough" that would become the bar top. Every support had to have a piece to slide out as not to disturb the slab after curing.

Holes in blocks were filled so concrete won't go into them. All seams between forms and blocks are caulked.

Trough is oiled so concrete won't stick to forms.

Concrete was brought in on the trailer and shoveled into forms.

Side forms are removed and top and sides are troweled smooth.

I was going to get you when you posted that shot in the "show your tap handle" thread, but I resisted. After seeing it show up here again I had to.
