Recently had a guy replace the internal fan. Two questions...shouldn't the air flow from that fan be blowing upward and coming out through the fins? It seems like it is blowing downward. The bigger problem is that the compressor is running constantly and it goes down to about 20 degrees. I have to keep the door open this weekend to keep my full 1/2 from freezing. Question is when he installed the fan, could he have done something to the wiring that would cause this.? When I adjust the thermostat it has no effect on the compressor.

If you are having temp problems, the rotation of the fan blowing the wrong direction could definitely be the reason.
Generally, on those types of units, the airflow is pulled in at the fan & blown through the evaporator coils, not pulled in through the coils & blown out by the fan.
Who was this "guy"? If he was just a friend then it's something you will have to handle yourself. If you had a company come in & do it then you need to call them up & correct the mistake. If it is a c-frame type of motor then there is a way to reverse the rotation but you might need to get a fan blade that turns the same as the motor, or you could have the right blade & the motor rotation is wrong.

    A c-frame type of motor...

Thanks for the response Ice man....It was a company who installed the fan. I'll call them tomorrow for that, but what I can't understand is why is the compressor on constantly at any setting? Would the wiring of that fan be related at all to the compressor staying on? This fan is supposed to run constantly, but prior to this "service" the compressor shut on and off as needed, now it won't stop.

It has to do with the way the air is flowing over the coil & where the temperature control is sensing the temp. For example... On a Beverage Air unit the temp control has the sensor mounted to the back wall of the unit behind the evaporator sensing the air coming off the coil so, if the airflow were reversed it would be sensing temp from the box temp rather than the air temp coming directly off of the evaporator coil - a big difference in temps. Other units sense the evaporator temp rather than air temp. Reversed airflow would still have an effect on those too. Not sure which type you have but I'll pretty much guarantee that the wrong airflow is the cause of your temp problems.
