Default HefeWeizen

I have run a couple of kegs of MGD though my home BevAir kegerator with great success. (thanks to some of the tips I have read here)

I am wanting to pick up a HefeWeizen that uses the American Sankey, probably either Pyramid or Shiner.

The store I am buying the keg from suggested I use Co2 / Nitrogen (Beer Gas) to dispense the Shiner HefeWeizen.

Would it be ok to just use Co2, and what are the benifits of beer gas? Also, why would it not be required on other HefeWeizens?

As far as I can tell they're dishing out bad information which is not all that uncommon. Direct draw type set ups (kegerators) should always be poured with straight CO2. The only exceptions would be when pouring Guiness or other nitrogenated beer like Boddingtons, etc. Hefewiezens are pushed with slightly higher pressure to maintain their higher carbonation levels but if that is a problem you could put in a longer line between the coupler and the tap.
