Size of Bar to fit Kegerator?

I'm building a new bar. However, I'm having a problem with the size of the front bar to allow for kegerator under the bar and knee space. I'm planning on installing either a True or Beverage Air 3 Keg (1/2 barrell each) system. I'll need @30 inches for the kegerator and 8-10 inches for kneespace. Is @40" to large of a bar for home use? Just seems like it's too large. What is the average widith of a bar and knee space under the bar to house the kegerator? Do you recommend an undercounter product that doesn't have the same depth requirement (flush mount)? If so, are there any that can hold 3, 1/2 barrell kegs?
