Default Avanti vs. Haier?

I have owned a Haier for about 1.5 years now with minimal problems. Just last week, the door hinge came apart and Best Buy has decided to give me a new kegerator! The problem is that they don't have anymore Haier fridges and they are trying to convince me to take an Avanti BD6000.

I have not been able to find any reviews on the Avanti BD6000 anywhere! Does anybody have experience Avanti or know where I can find somebody that does?

I appreciate any help you can give!

If this is the Avanti model around $600 raise some hell. I bought mine less than a month ago and am taking it back tonight before my 30 days is up. The thermostat is crap. My temp leveled at around 43. With a tiny adjustment it droped to 32. It will not stay where i want it. Also have heard some others with coupler problems.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info! I have been reading up a little, and most reviews say the same thing. Thanks!

I have also had issues with thermostat on my new Avanti. I also had to replace the coupler.

get a good used fridge and MM's conversion kit and enjoy ice cold suds instead of the kegerators. I wish I would have done that in the beginning myself, live and learn

Let me be blunt if I may. The Avanti is a piece of crap! The beer line is too short (2.5 ft), The tower opening is not very wide thus does not allow much cold air to cool the tower. The tap handle has a different thread so you cannot exchange tap handles. I ended up replacing the tower, regulator, and coupler. the unit was then working good for about a week. The temp of the beer coming out was 39. The next day the keg froze. I dealt with Avanti to get service and waited for over a month to get a new thermostat. Finally I went back to Best Buy and they swapped it out. I brought it home, installed all my pieces and turned it on. The instructions say to turn it to 6 and let it run for 3 hrs. I did that and after 4 hrs the unit was 10 degrees. I took the crap back the next day and they gave me store credit.

Do not allow this switch. My neighbor has the Haier and has no issues with it. I see where Best Buy.com has the Haier listed for $499. Almost $100 cheaper than the Avanti. why can't they get one?

Spend the extra money and buy either a Beverage Air or True commercial grade beer refrigerator. Look for a used unit. Mine is now 8 years old, I bought it used and it works great. I am in the beverage industry and we use nothing but True or Beverage Air and they are tough and dependable and if the thermostat goes it's a $75.00 item with the service charge.
