Default fridge conversions

I was told the newer fridges can't be converted into a kegerator because they can't handle the weight of the keg. I think the reason was because the coils are on the bottom. Is this true?

I doubt it. I use a home-made wooden shelf in mine anyway. If i were to convert a new fridge, I'd most likely build a shelf in it too (provides a little storage space below the keg).
