Default Keeping a fridge outside?

Hi Gang, long-time homebrewer, first time kegger...
Just moved to Arizona, where it rarely gets below 30 degrees F(highs in the summer ~100-110), and would like to set up a kegerator on the back patio by the pool. I know there are special 'fridges for this, but they're $$, and I want to spend money on ingredients, not high-dollar equipment (if I can avoid it!) Has anyone used a dorm-size fridge outside? Found one at Sears for about $180, and it'll be able to hold two corny kegs, but don't want to waste time modifying it if it's only going to last a year...

Is your patio covered or uncovered. being in phoenix you have a better chance than any of us with the dry air. I started with mine on my back porch but moved it to my garage to keep it away from dust and bugs. good luck.

Those dorm fridges might struggle to keep the temperature down in that kind of heat. I've heard of folks using a small fan (from a computer) to help circulate/remove heat from the fridge coils.

Another idea is to add some insulation to the fridge. Wrap it, spray it, etc.
