Default Newb needs help with first Kegerator

Well I just recieved my first kegerator today from one of my roommates and Im a bit excited to say the least. My roomie got it from his Dad whose had for god knows how long. Anyways the name on the front of it is Coldspot, and it appears to be at least 15-20 years old, but still runs well. It seems to have all the parts to it, according to the little research I've done. The problem is whether we should go ahead and use these parts that have been sitting around for 10 years or spend the money and get new stuff (obviously new stuff would be better but were a few college kids on a tight budget). As a super new comer to the kegerator game I really am just asking what I need to do to get this thing up and running. Is cleaning the old parts going to be good enough? Also if you guys have any tips or tricks of the trade you would like to pass down I would love to hear anything you have to say. I can incude some pics you you want. Thanks a lot for your help.

As long as the gas lines aren't leaking they are likely good to go. It is the beer lines that you want to give your attention to. Click the Back to MicroMatic.com link above and search for cleaning supplies. College kids on a buget wouldn't want to waste a keg of beer by funking it up with gunked up beer lines.

No need to replace anything unless it's not working properly.

Give it a good cleaning and tap that keg.
