kegerator question
Can you make a kegerator w/ a fridge that also has a top freezer in it or does it have to be only a fridge?

You can use one that has a top freezer. Just don't run the beer through the freezer part.

Mine is this way. The big bonus is I keep a dozen frosted mugs in the freezer section. Just make sure to mount the tap low enough that the handle is clear of the freezer door opening.

It's not a full size fridge, but it's big enough for the keg and everything. I should drill through the side then and have the handle there right?

If you go through the side be VERY carefull. Most modern refrigerators run refrigerant lines in the sides and if you nick one your system is toast.

Go through the Door, no refrigerant lines there...

I converted an old refrigerator (freezer on top) into a kegerator. I ran the faucet through the side of the fridge. I guess I got luck, because I did NOT hit any refrigerator lines.
Having the extra freezer space up top is a bonus (I used this angle with the wife in convincing her how convenient a kegerator would be for BOTH of us).

When you cut through the side, stop immediately after you penetrate through the skin. Using a screwdriver, carefully poke through the insulation to determine if their is any wire from the thermostat routed at this location. If not, cut through the rest of the wall.
