GLORY DAYS!!! I just took a swig from a fine Silicon Blonde Ale from the local brewer.
Thanks to all of you and your posts for educating me on the particulars of kegerators. There is a lot of experience out there using this forum, and it is
very generous of all of you to share with the rest of us.
I finally decided on the Summit 490BI-2.
*less noise than the commercial brands-or so I've read
*as much as I can afford
*built-in capabilities
*many dealers to help with parts or problems
I upgraded to a S/S 3" dual tap tower and a dual gauge regulator.
I needed/wanted a kegerator that can be built-in to a cabinet, as I built a magnet in my seldom used living room (
A BAR!-many thanks to the wife for that).
I will post the pictures as soon as she shows me how.
Here goes beer number 2
The brewer recommended 40* with 12PSI. I let the kegs sit in the kegerator for a day to settle and cool. I bought a lager and a tasty blonde ale. The beer had some foam, but much less than I expected considering some of the horror stories posted. Until I finish my tower cooler, I will continue to read on this subject. In the meantime, I will pour into a pitcher and then into our glasses
I hadn't planned on tapping them until I got the bar completely done. But the wife went out of town today, and a couple of buddies are coming over. I didn't want to be rude and just serve them canned beer. I recently found a local brewer that puts out some tasty beer. Not only do I feel good about taking care of the local small businessman, but he's competitively priced compared to the beers at BevMo.
Once again, I would like to thank all of you for sharing your inspired projects and experiences. It prepared me for what to look for and expect. My friends and I owe all of you a debt of gratitude. CHEERS!!!
Stay tuned for photos
