    Default Summit/Sanyo styrofoam behind coldplate?

Noticed Styrofoam behind my sanyo/summit coldplate...should that be removed?

    Packing materials?

Been in use for 1 year but curious.

    Thanks

I have no styrofoam behind my plate. You should look into adding an internal fan to push the air around inside. Just to try and ensure an even distribution of coldness too.

Already have a tower cooler and an external temperature controller.

I guess I could always put in an extra fan too.

Noticed a LOT of frost buildup recently on the coldplate. I'll have to check the seal as well

It's been there for a year with out causing you problems so leave it. Yeah it could have been packing material but why ever it was put there, it's serving a function for you. Air being one of the best insulators it takes a lot of energy to cool it. So cutting down dead air space is just that much less space that has to be cooled. Since it's behind the cool plate it doesn't affect the transfer of cool to the keg. It's not hurting anything and may be helping. If you attempted to remove it I suspect you'd have to move the cool plate first. I don't think it's ever a good ideal to move it if you don't have too since damage to it is catastrophe.
