Default Question to those who own Beverage-Air BM23S

I know it can fit 4 cornelius kegs for homebrew according to the specs. But in addition to that will it also accomodate a 10 gallon CO2 tank or only a 5 gallon tank (inside that is)? I'd prefer to get a 10 gallon than a 5 and get more bang for the buck.

Good question, why does it need to be inside another good question.

The BM23S is designed for the CO2 to be inside. Silly if you ask me. I'm sure it could be modified to have the CO2 outside but I don't know how.

I have the similar True TDD-1. There's shelf space in the back above the compressor and below the fan above that just fits a 5 lb CO2 bottle that would be wasted space otherwise. And since the Beverage Air BM23 and True TDD-1 are on wheels for portability, it makes sense that the CO2 bottle would be inside for convenience. A larger CO2 bottle will have to sit on the floor of the unit and take up keg space, unless you want to drill a hole somewhere and put the cylinder outside.

I have this unit and a 10lb CO2 tank. It does not fit on the shelf, and therefore is on the floor of the unit with the keg. I had a 1/2 of german beer a few weeks back, and it fit easily, as it was a taller and narrower shape. I currently have a 1/2 of Fullers ESB and it fits but just barely. The door shuts, but I'm certain the inside of the door is touching the side of the tank, and I now keep the unit locked to ensure it stays shut. I wish the shelf as 1/4 inch narrower, but Its functional.

I don't know about the BM23 exactly, but for the TDD-1, after I replaced the regulator gauges with the ones MM sells, the 5 lb tank won't go all the way back on the shelf. The MM gauges are larger than the ones I had originally. So, there's not a lot of head room even for the 5 lb tank.

Check the back of your kegerator, the danby I got has a shelf for co2 but there also was a hole in the back that was coverd by a rubber plug. I pulled the plug and ran the cos outside, I perfer my co2 outside so I can make adjustments without opening the door (my temp adjustment is outside also)

Of course yours may be different.

I have a bm-23b. (black finish not stainless, the same fridge) There is no provision for an external tank, not that you couldnt make one, but unlike some other keg fridges there is no "rubber plug" also what tomk said is correct about the co2 tank. with the micro matic gauges I cant position the gauges perfictally upright they have to be tilted about 45 degrees. still works fine, and better solution than tilting the tank, but it would be nice if I could mount them upright. I'm pretty sure, but I havent tried it yet, a half keg will still fit like this. I just bought my bm23 and I have been experimenting with 1/4 kegs till I get the bugs worked out.
