I wanted to tell people my success with quarter kegs and the Sanyo 4912. There are no problems fitting a slim quarter, in fact I have tried Miller Lite and Yuengling. I know it is a popular fridge to convert to a kegerator and there was a debate where it could fit a 'fat' quarter keg, well I have your answers...YES IT CAN! I've read all the forums and a few people mentioned it could and some even said it couldn't ... well I wanted to find the answer and I have proof of it below. There is no way it can fit a full sized keg (which I did read someone said they could).
I originally thought I would put the c02 tank on the outside, but I was able to fit on the side of the keg, I just had to prop it up, that's where you see my pickle jar. For now it'll work until i figure out a more permanent solution.
I built a shelf for the bottom that would go over the compressor hump which measures 17" wide, 10" high, and the top part has a 15.5" depth, the bottom part has a 10" depth.
I modified the door from the guide here:
homebrewing: Converting a Sanyo 4912 to be a homebrew kegerator
He used a dry-erase board, but I couldn't find it so I found a piece of wood that was 1/8" thickness and it worked fine.
Here is what the board replaced:
After reading many keg sizes websites, they were all incorrect. I was prepared to fit a 16 1/8" (diameter) keg, but this AB keg was 15.5". Even on
AB's website it says 16 1/6".
I appreciate the help of the board and what micromatic has done for me and I just wanted to share my experience with everyone in making this fridge more versatile and have more options of fitting micro kegs and commercial kegs. For now I will enjoy my bud LT and think about what I want to put in there next.
Keep Kegging!
