Default Regulator problem

I have a kegerator with a 5lb co2 tank. Just got a new keg and hooked it up. As soon as I turn on the co2 tank the gas begins coming out of the regulator release valve and does not stop until I shut down the co2 tank. If I put my finger over the gas expelling from the reulator, the pressure spikes up to 30+ psi. My gauge also shows that I have about 14psi with the co2 tank off. I hooked up 2 previous kegs and had no issues with the regulator or the co2 tank.

Do I have a regulator problem or could it be the vavle on my co2 tank?

Is your regulator set at a normal pressure such as 14 PSIG? If it is, the regulator is not functioning properly. If this is a new regulator you should contact the vendor you received it from and ask for a replacement.

I bought that regulator, installed it, and it corrected my problem. Thanks.
