    Default Freezing Lines

Dumb question: I just thawed my kegerator to get all the ice build up off. I also reinsulated my tower. The temp got to 22* inside. I have no beer in there yet as I am picking them up today, but my question is: will 22* temps effect the lines or couplers if they got icy?

If you're referring to the getting icy and then thawing, you should be fine. Beer cannot be that cold or it very well might freeze. Beer usually freezes at around 29 or so but can vary depending on alcoholic strength (the beers not yours, lol). If there is water in the lines from cleaning or beer in the lines then you will need to defrost them before tapping the keg. Be sure to dial in your temp too so you don't end up freezing the keg. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.....my temps are consistent every time at 38* and I have no issues with foam, etc.... I know beer freezes at 29* or so. I just wanted to make sure that nothing unusual would happen if the lines and couplers iced up a bit b/c the temp when down so low after my thawing out and cleaning and before I replenished kegs. I am sure it will be fine, but just wanted to bounce off someone!

    Default temp

beer does freeze at 29, so dont go lower than that. To get an accurate temp reading buy a digital thermometer with a wired probe- from Walmart, $9. Put the probe in an old water bottle filled with water and a little of the blue windshield wiper stuff for cars, its an antifreeze of sorts. This will give you steady accurate liquid temps, not fluctuating air temps in your beer cooler.
