Default tapped keg/then ran out of co2!

Hello to all! It's my first post here...

Anyway, I got a kegerator off of craigslist and then got a keg o' beer. I tapped the keg but then heard a hissing sound coming from the coupler. A long story short - i ran out of gas about a half hour after tapping the keg. My question is - how long will my new keg last now that it's been tapped? It's currently sitting in my kegerator, nice and cold and "untapped". I'll probably need a new coupler, so any guesses as to how long I got??

ADDITONAL QUESTION: Do any "normal" stores sell these couplers or do I have to buy them online?

    Thanks!

    Jason

I've had some luck at my local homebrew shop. They have most of the items you could find online.

It may not be the coupler as much as the gasket between the gas line and where it connects to the coupler. You may also find a slice in the gas line is causing this as well. Use some soapy water around the leak to find out where it is coming from. Your best bet for couplers will be here at Micro Matic, check out the equipment store.

an untapped keg will last until the expire date on the keg or 50 days past the Born on date. thats plenty of time for you to have your gas bottle refilled and get a new gasket for the gas line-to-tap connection- which is the one that usually leaks. cheers. PS keep that beer as close to 32F as possible.
