Default Whats the smallest size fridge used?

I'm working on building a kegerator for a quarter keg and its very important that the fridge be as small as possible because of the design I'm making. I know my best option is to get a quarter keg and go shopping, but I have 2 questions. First, what is the smallest size refrigerator that you've heard being used as a kegerator? Also, what is the biggest brand of quarter kegs?

I'm talking about the short, choady kegs, not the skinny ones the same height as half kegs.

Thanks for the help.

yea....

I checked the FAQ and it didn't really answer either question.

What brand has the biggest size quarter kegs? I could not find this on the FAQ, but I need to know this so that I don't use a smaller quarter keg to find a fridge and then find out that I can't fit all kind of beer in the kegerator.

What is the smallest refrigerator you have heard of using for a quarter keg? I'm trying to build something that requires the fridge be as small as possible and I was hoping someone on this forum has experience with something like that.

Another question...

Is it possible to lay a refrigerator on its side, or will that somehow damage it?

NEVER run a refrigerator on it's side! As a matter of fact don't run it for 24 hours after it has been laid on it's side it shipping/moving.

In the FAQ it tells you that a 1/4 keg is 14.8" H X 17" D. 99% of 1/4 kegs will be this size. Every fridge is going to be built differently. You are going to have to measure the inside of the fridge. They do not list the inside dimensions in HxLxW, only the cubic feet. You also need to allow space for the coupler and the Co2 tank.

If you tap it, they will come.

Thanks for the help.

I was looking at some pretty small wine coolers that look like a 1/4 keg would fit perfect, but I don't know if they get cold enough to use as a kegerator. Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this?

Coors Brewing uses the largest 1/4 keg. Call the local distributor for specs. As to the wine cooler, check their site for specs.
