Default A Few Questions While Finishing up Kegerator

I am just about to finish my kegerator and tap the first keg but there are a couple things I cant figure out. School will be starting up soon, so with this running I most certaintly will be running through more than a few kegs. I have the couplers for any beer I would want to serve and both a standard and stout faucet. The problem is with the gas, I have a 20lb tank and am about to just have it filled with beer/stout gas. I just dont know if this will not work well with american lagers like bud etc. I have read about not serving guinness etc with co2 but couldnt find anything about serving american lagers with mix gas. Also i seemed have lost a beer hex nut that goes on the coupler while putting everything together and cant find one that fits at a local hardware store it just seems silly you have to order a >$1 nut online anyone have any ideas?

"American" beers need co2 to keep the beer fresh the "mixed gas systems" that i think you are referring to are only for long draw setups, and you can order the nut from the fine people at micromatic

The beer gas will work if you go through the keg quickly. There isn't enough co2 in the beer gas for American lagers. They will go flat.

The hex nut has threads exclusive to the industry and this has been the practice for decades. If you do not want to order just one, call your local beer wholesaler and ask if they have one that they can spare.

Never under any conditions use the blend gas designed for nitrogenated beers on ales and lagers. Timg is dead on - ales and lagers will become flat.

Thanks for the info and help guys, looks like ill be getting another tank so I will be able to switch between the nitros and non without having to deal with any flat beer.
I ended up being able to get the nut from a buddy I just couldnt justify paying the $6 shipping on a dollar piece. Hopefully everything will work out and Ill be pouring a cold one tuesday night.
Thanks again
