Smile Home Draught Set up question

Hey,

Im in the process of finishing my basement where i will for sure have a bar that i would like to have a double tap. My first questions is in regards to where i plan on storing my kegs and the distance the beer will be traveling to get to the tap.

i plan on placing the kegs in a freezer/or fridge which will be in a closet about 20' from where the bar will be. i have the tubing ran for both (beer lines and C02 lines) lines. Im wondering if this distance is too far, and im worrying that by time the beer gets to the tap it wont be cold (probably not by muh) and also would i have to worry about beer sitting in this tube?

Second, I have 2 beer line for each type of beer...will i need 2 C02 lines or just 1?

Lastly, i was looking into getting a chest freezer to store 2 1/6 kegs. Does anyone know if the highest temp setting on a chest freezer will be too cold for the beer and freeze it? and what size (height) do you think the chest should be.

Sorry for all the questions, i fugured id get them all out in one post.

Thanks in advance

Default Wow thats a good run.

I dont know about the distance, but that seems pretty far, and how would you keep the lines the same consistant temp as the liquid temp of the keg.

In regards to how many CO2 lines, just purchase a dual regulator and keep the tank/regulator next to the kegs.

It will be difficult to maintain temperature twenty feet for your freezer conversion. You may even place an enormous load on it where it may malfunction prematurely.

Attempt to place the kegs closer to the tower if possible.

Would a Cooled Tap Tower do the trick?

also what about the height size of the chest freezer...what height should it be to fit the 1/6 keg with tap. And will the chest freezer work on its highest temp setting, or will it freeze the beer?

You will need a temp controller for the freezer, many homebrew stores have them. 20' is too long a run without an airshaft or glycol system.

A cooled tap tower simply means you're circulating air from the box up into the tower (for air cooled anyway). It would be irrelavant in this case since you simply won't be able to push cold air that far and keep a constant temperature on the beer, at least not within the limited airspace and cooling capacity of a freezer conversion.

You're best bet would be a glycol cooled line system, but that would be an expensive proposition for a home bar. If you're in the process of remodeling/finishing the basement I would make provisions to place the freezer as close as possible to the tap tower, otherwise your draft beer project may end up being an excersise in disappointment.
