Hello fellow Beer enthusiasts and perveyors of the Perfect Poor. For the past few months I have been lurking through many great posts for the perfect formula for the Perfect Poor for my Sanyo 1206 Kegerator.
My name is Scott and I am a Brand New Member and would like to thank the other members who have taken the time to share their frustrations, insights, and successes with their kegerators. I have been impressed with the overall character and helpfulness by the members on the forum and I'm excited about sharing my experiences as well.
While many of you have achieved the Perfect Poor, there are many of us who are still tweaking and experimenting to achieve that goal; including myself. I'm getting closer!
I have recently modified my kegerator with 3 computer type fans mounted in the roof of my Sanyo. Two 4 1/2" (120mm) fans provide airflow and the 3rd 3" (80mm) fan is dedicated to tower cooling.
I decided to use this ceiling area because when I looked closely under the counter top from the back, I could see about 1 1/2" free open space under the countertop. Then if you remove the 1 1/2" insulation material just above the the plastic lining of the ceiling of the box, you have about 3" of potential space to work with! That got me thinking because you know that space can be tight in a kegerator.
So this is what I came up with. I am now going to try and post a couple pictures. This is a first time for me posting pics- I hope it works.
The setup is up and running. and is working well at keeping the kegerator more uniformly cool. I noticed that it only took a couple of hours to reach mid 30's temp after I plugged it in at ambient garage temp of 80 deg. The tower cooling is working well with the temp reading 39 deg.
I currently have a 1/4 keg of Coors Light and my first poors have had a lot of foam. This was about only 8 hours transporting the keg. the following day the poors were much better but still about 1/2 foam in the glass. I have just installed 15' of 3/16 beer line which has slowed the poor speed quite a bit and the foam is about 1/3 glass getting better! My beer temp on the first poor is about 39 Deg and subsequent poors about 37 Deg. I have a new premium Micromatic dual guage regulator on order that I will install soon. My regulator is curently set @ 13 psi.
Anyways, I'm still making a few adjustments in hopes I'll get the Perfect Poor.
