Default Kenmore Kegerator

I purchased a used Kenmore unit that is about 5 years old and it is in my garage. I am having issues where the unit won't get cold enough. The thermostat is working and the compressor is turning on and off. The problem is the temp of a glass of water left inside for 2 days was only 41 and the beer temp out of the tap is appx. 45.

I have researched here and don't think it is a thermostat issue and also contacted a local service company but they want anywhere from $200 - $400 to service and recharge the unit.

Now here's the question - I spent $200 for the unit - In your opinion should I invest in fixing this unit or purchase a Danby unit from Sam's? Needless to say, really hooked on having draft beer in my garage!!

Thanks in advance for you feedback!

B.

If you say the compressor is cycling & it not reaching temperature then I would say it IS a temp control problem. The control sounds like it is shutting down the compressor too early.
