A lot of the domestics are very similar to what I pay at the New Jersey Shore. I think we are lucky, as I see most others are higher.

Here in Houston, a 1/2 barrel of Budweiser is $93.67
    A 1/4 barrel of Budweiser is $58.92

I think we're gettin a tad bit ripped off...... I tend to stick with the imports and microbrews cause it makes no sense to pay the same price as cans/bottles for the domestics.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

stopped by Total Wine in Clearwater Florida today. They had a 1/6 of Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale, which has been on the shelf probably for the last 3-4 weeks. I finally found out why.

Last Fall they special ordered a 1/6 of that beer for me and i believe they charged me $75-80.

    The price is now $109.99.

    Are you kidding???

Other local distributor in Ohio doesn't have a website and I can't find their pricelist they sent me. But I remember that the Bud and Budlight was about $90 for a 1/2 bbl. They were much higher than Carenbauer.

I live about 45 min from Carenbauer and they are the closest Yuengling distributor to me, so I drove the 45 min to get the Yuengling and I saved about $15 on the Bud Light.

Both the OH and the WV distributors charge a $30 deposit per keg.

I spoke with the owner of one of the distributors and he told me that Anheuser Busch was raising their prices in October but he didn't elaborate on how much or why. I'm still pissed that AB sold out to the Euros, so I may just stick to 100% Yuengling. God Bless America!

I have to agree with one of the posts a few pages back. All of you have (sans our Canadian neighbors) have it really good.

    In Washington State

First the deposits on kegs. The minimum is $50.00 and I've seen as high as $100.00 for a deposit on a keg. My local microbrewery doesn't charge me at all, just holds a credit card.

Coors, Bud Light, etc will average $120 per 1/2 bbl.
PBR is over $110.00 per 1/2 bbl (once again a cult following as raised the price of a daily drinker).
Newcastle costs me $182 per 1/2 bbl.
Stella, Sam Adams Seasonal, Spaten, Sierra Hoegaarden, etc will be 79.99 - 99.99 1/6 bbl.

Don't even get me started on the fact that I have to fly 2000 miles for a Yuengling.

    Hey Goosekeeper,
Other than a few places in Pittsburgh, the closest to you would probabaly still be Carenbauer in Wheeling WV. That's one helluva trek from Cincy though. If your seriously committed, the good news is that its mostly all interstate and takes about 3 hours 45 min. The distributor is just 3 blocks off the interstate and easy to find. Plug this address into google as your destination and u will see what your up against: "1900 Jacob Street, Wheeling, West Virginia 26003". Also, you should call first just to make sure they have what you want before you make the trip (304)-232-3000. Keep in mind that they only sell kegs to the general public. If you want bottles or cans you have to buy them at the grocery store or convenient stores.

As of 2 days ago when I returned some kegs, I was told that Carenbauer can no longer get Yuengling Lager in 1/4 bbl kegs do to a decision made by Yuengling. However, Yuengling Lager IS available from Carenbauer in 1/2 bbl ONLY. The only yuengling they have in slim 1/4 bbls is "Lite Lager" and "Black and Tan".
The very attractive blonde processing my transaction seemed very knowledgeable about all the products they sell. Everyone I have ever dealt with there has been super nice. After I paid I went out to my car to unload the empties and there is a guy driving away on a fork lift....he had already loaded my car and took the empties away.

Yuengling is also distributed in TN, which is just over 4 hours from Cincy. You might be better off looking for a distributor in TN then stop by the Grand Ole Opry!

    Good Luck!
    Yuenglinger

Default How much is a half barrel where you live??

Depends on the brew. In upstate NY, $50 to $75 for regular types. (Miller Lite, Coors, Bud) $120 to $130 for premium brews. (Blue Moon, DosXX)

I've gotten 3 1/2 kegs since I got my kegerator 3 weeks ago. No, I didn't drink that much we had 2 large parties here.

I ordered a 1/2 keg of Bud and it's $89 plus tax and deposit. They just put a hold on your card for the deposit.

I ordered 2 other kegs from a different place.

The second keg was a 1/2 of Sam Adams. I had to call to order it. This keg was about $160 and they wanted a $105 cash deposit.

The third keg was another special order of O'Doul's 1/2 keg since I'm not supposed to be drinking that much due to a heart condition. This was was $79 with a $30 deposit held on my card.

Not sure why the second place required 2 different methods of deposit payment. Anyway, they said once they see I'm a regular customer they'll give me the cash back and then I just need to leave a check which they'll hold forever.

Just ordered a 1/2 keg of Coors Original for tomorrow. $51.00 in NY. Just swapping kegs, so no deposit. That's just under 31 cents a beer! This is the kind of math I like!!

My PBR was $69 before tax and deposit at Total Wine in Sterling, VA. Definitely the cheapest keg they have there by about thirty dollars, but it had to be special ordered.

When I went to University of Maryland (graduated in 1992) we would take a fifteen minute drive to University Spirits by Catholic University in DC and kegs of Miller Lite were $29.99!!! and the deposit was only ten bucks.

Crazy, I can get Bud Light for $45 on sale here in Chicago, but Guinness still costs me $180. Of course I choose Guinness. Worse, it was only $139 when I first started two years ago, but I think that was a sale price and it went up $20 twice since.

Edit: I lied, Bud Light is not $45, its $55. $45 is the sale price, and that was the last time I bought one 2 years ago. Still a good price. And Milwaukees Rock Bottom Brewery sells some great craft beers in Chicago for $130-$140 depending on variety.

Default San Antonio - Miller Lite

Just picked up a 1/2 of Miller Lite for $81.13 before tax. This is my first keg so I also had to pay a $35.00 deposit but I expected that. They actually had Ziegenbach on their price list for about $65.00 for a 1/2 but they were out, so next time I'll get that if they still have it for that price.
