i bought the wal mart one, then soon figured out that i was going to have to replace everything but the fridge with parts from here, so by the time i was done, i think i spent a little more than it would have cost to convert a fridge, depending on where you get it from, so unless you want to screw around with the thing, i would buy a nice one like the ones on this site, or build one yourself

If you don't mind the look of the home-made kegerator, I would build one. If it's going in the garage or basement, maybe it will look fine. Some people prefer the store bought kegerator for looks. With the store bought models, usually the cheaper you go, the more modifications you will have to do.

I'm new to the whole kegerator thing, but you should build one out of an old fridge/freezer. It took me about a half hour and it works great. I bought quality parts right off the bat and I get a perfect pour everytime. I've read over a hundred complaints on this forum about cheap premade kegerators and their problems. I've made no modifications and I have plenty of room for other things in fridge and freezer. Just my opinion. Good luck.

You'll get 90 percent complaints on sites like this because people that don't have problems generally don't seek out sites like this for help. I have a Danby that I paid $430 and modded for less than $25 in about a half hour and am very happy. The only bad pours I get are when the keg is empty.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed.
Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might
be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself,
"It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than
be selfish and worry about my liver."

Good point. I stand corrected, I too get bad pours when the keg is empty!

I don't care of the looks Its going In the garage In the corner, ('Thats the only place I have room'). Im still going have to change everything around to make It fit because of my quads. But It be nice to roll it out by the pool though. Thats why I wanted to know if cheap was a good way to go,but it dosn't sounds like it. My best bet is to build it and it looks so easy to build. You guys are lucky back east In california We don't have basemeants

I bought a used Danby and I've had to mod it so much that I wish I would have just started with converting a chest freezer.

Mines in my basement, it would be nice to have it outside or upstairs even. But walking up and down the stairs all the time isn't that bad because I get a cold draft beer as a reward for doing so.

I bought a used homemade one from Craigslist for 100$ with two 20lb tanks. I like the way it looks cause its one of the old 1950's vintage fridges with the sideways steel handles, plus I can keep mugs and pitchers in the freezer. I did have to spend about 10 bucks replacing old shabby parts but now I'm loving it.
