New Kegerator
Just installed a conversion kit in a "donated" fridge this week. Tapped a keg of Budweiser Select and all is well. Can't explain how nice it is to have draft beer on hand whenever the mood strikes. Will definitely make watching football much nicer on the weekend, not to mention having friends over.
The conversion kit was easy to install (as long as you take your time and be careful) and the adjustment on the regulator was relatively painless.
Looking forward to exploring the possibilities (already looking for a chest freezer to convert into a 2-keg system).

Thanks.
I am looking forward to checking out different kinds of beers with the keg-fridge. Any suggestions? Nothing that tastes too strong, but looking for something other than the usual. Thinking of going to a 2-tap setup and putting 2 1/4 barrels in the fridge instead of just the 1/2 barrel. Of course that might be down the road a bit.
Glad to be here and benefiting from the experiences of others.

ive had sam adams boston lager, yuengling, have been running coors light since summer. the only problem around here is you have to order special kegs in advance. have to travel bout 15 miles one way to get a decent one that is in stock

Now that you have your very own kegerator, make sure that you ask Santa for a treadmill (you'll need it). I noticed my beer consumption went WAY up with the kegerator in the garage.

Now you know why folks complain about getting a headache from draught beer. It tastes so good they drink more. Thus, a hangover.

I already go to the gym regularly, have to stay in shape in the military. I am really enjoying the convenience and look forward to exploring the possibilities.

I used to be a devout bud drinker for years, and put up with a "head" the next morning. I thought it was the amount of beer I was drinking, but a friend told me Bud is brewed with rice. I changed to coors light, and guess what no more bad head in the mornings [ ]

Well of course if Beer gives you a headache and you switch to coors light you won't get it...
Makes perfect sense... No beer IN coors light!

Sorry to bust your "bubble" guys, but Coors' brews also use rice as an adjunct in their recipe. Makes it more drinkable. Must be the water!!! Then again, Hamms should be a great brew as well do to the "SKY BLUE WATER" it utilizes! WHERE ARE THE E-MAILS???

Never had a problem with ANY beer unless I drank way more than I should have... were talking passing out drunk... back in my young and bulletproof days. Now I take time to enjoy the flavor of my beer and have no problems. But once again I must ask... if your going to the expense of a home kegerator, why put tasteless beer in it. I briefly considered putting in keg of Bud since that’s what allot of my buds drink, but then I woke up and realized the kegerator was for me not them and ran right out and picked up a keg of Amber Bock! Life's too short to drink tasteless beer!

The best way I have found for avoiding the "morning after" is to take 2 aspirin (or Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aleve, whatever) and drink a big glass of water or, even better, Gatorade. The headache the next morning comes from dehydration (from the alcohol)and it actually lowers the amount of water surounding your brain. The pain comes from exposed nerve endings in the brain. Rehydrating just before you go to bed seems to eliminate this or at the very least greatly reduce it. Just some trivia I picked up along the way...
Gunns...thanks for giving me a hard time.
So far the Bud Select is working great...I have thought about going to 2 tapes with a 1/4 barrel of Amber Bock and a 1/4 of Bud Select. Looking at doing that this summer, maybe.
Take care,
Brad

I run coors light during the steamed crab season here, the craft brews are a bit too heavy to me while eating these things. now it is winter and time to change over to the heavier suds. the only problem too, are a lot of the imports come only in 1/2 kegs and way over $100 a pop.I need to order two more couplers to accomodate these brews also. hmmm I just might order these today, an early xmas present to meself [xx(]

Not to be all high and mighty (especially to you topgun, as I enjoy your posts), but I can't imaging putting Bud or anything like it in my kegerator. That stuff was fine back in college but that was many years ago. I find it well worth $100 for a keg of something good to drink. Oh, and the two aspirin and water thing works quite well, although knowing your limit works well too (but don't we all go overboard every now and then?).

I ordered the G system coupler today and when this keg is gone I will get something good. I want to try anchor steam, sierra nevada and quite a few more. the other reason I ran coors light is convenience. the store I go to doesnt require keg registration, what a hassle when people are lined up behind u to check out, u pay and u r outta there. the place where I get my co2 exchange is touted to have the largest keg selection in MD, will have to see what they have also. the steamed crab season is over here, although u can get them year round, it is time to get something tasty for those long cold winter nights. if i get a lil too tipsy, I will do 2 advil and plenty of h20, it works.

BigStein,
Don't worry about being high and mighty, we all have varying preferences. That is why as you so eloquently put it, "So many beers, so little time." I agree and plan on broadening my horizons. The Bud Select happens to be what I drink right now after playing softball and it was the first keg I wanted in my fridge. I am already looking to go to a 2 tap system and rotate two 1/4 barrels through instead of one 1/2 barrel.
Any suggestions are welcome. Although none for the "cold winter nights" as we don't see many of those here on the coast of Florida.
Cheers,
Brad

Im curious bout prices in other parts of the US. checked on Anchor steam, 1/2 kegs only here for $125, Sierra Nevada pale ale 1/2 keg $115, Bass ale $130 for a 1/2, I dont really want 1/2 kegs due to the weight issue but curious bout the prices.

Had some good suds this weekend although not draft. this place where I started getting kegs in april has an unbelieveable amount of craft beers, I never paid att'n before cause I had my mind on one thing a keg. had a six of anchor steam and a six of sierra nevada celabration ale, some good drinking suds. and yes I have to agree, I will keep a keg of good stuff and use keep a six pack of coors when steamed crab season rolls around in spring again. they even had a small selection of 1/6 kegs in stock too.

TG, those prices are in line with what I pay up here in New Hampshire. I think my 1/2 barrell of Sam Summer went for about $115, as did Octoberfest. I am lucky to have a RedHook brewery about 20 minutes from my house. Not only is it the freshest beer around, they only charge $99 for a 1/2 barrel. Don't know about your place, but there is generally a wider variety of beer available in the 1/2 barrels than in the 1/4rs around here.

glad to hear your xmas party worked out good and very lil "beer" stuff to throw out. the imported kegs here I want, heineken, bass, all come in 1/2 kegs that i've seen so far, not good on the back with that weight. will have to expand my search a little further from the house, unless I special order.
