Default Need help quick. Need to cool down fridge

Okay. So Ive been f'ing with this damn fridge since early yesterday and cant manage to get it to get as cold as Id like it. I want it to be 32-33 degrees, ice cold. I had the liquid temperature at 31.1 degrees this morning, but I think thats because it was cool this morning. Now its at about 38 degrees liquid temp

I just made a new cradboard backplate out of plywood and installed 2 fans on the back to try and cool down the compressor and coils better to see if that would help the fridge but well see

What are some other tricks ro get the refrigerator part really cold? Where is the temperature probe for the fridge usually?

Here is a trick I use after defrosting my unit & I need to cool it down quickly.
I put in blocks of blue ice to assist the cool down process. With the internal computer fans blowing, it moves cold air around and reduces the cool down time until the unit settles in.
It works quite well & sometimes I forget about the blue ice & 2 days later they still semi frozen.

It isn't getting colder than 36 because you don't have consistant temps. There is too much swing going on. If you have blue ice, give it a try. The air temp may swing 6 or 8 degrees, but once you get liquid temp where you want it, it will take longer to give up the the temp than the air will.
BTW I like the fan setup you fabbed. Damn, now you got me eyeballing my unit & trying to scheme up something like that.

Did it all with a sabre saw, drill press, and hand drill. Its a bit rough but mad eit in about 30 minutes
Those fans are hella expensive apparently. Was looking for cfm specs today and they sell for $70 each! I couldnt believe it!
And I only paid a few dollars for them new at a yard sale!

Just wire it in parallel with the stock fan and have it pull air out rather than push it in and it will only run when the compressor is on (when fridge is working)

When I first saw the pics I assumed you were pushing the air onto the compressor. And then I thought how would it work if you pulled the air out through the fans?
What kind of fridge are you using?. It looks like the drilled holes may be resticting air flow unless there is other inlet area like in the front or sides of the fridge.

Thats how it was in the stock cardboard piece only not so round so I figured put holes in the new piece as well
The front lower grill was gone when I bought the fridge and parts. I pull the fridge out grabbing the dteel member at the bottom and I can feel the air going in the front towards the back. Now if it makes a difference is another matter

That makes sense because the OEM setup is pulling air front to back across the cooling coils on the botton of the fridge. The coils should be clean & free of dust & fuzz for max efficiency. This however mainly affects the cooling ability of the refrigeration unit itself. Cleaner = shorter cycle time . Dirty = longer.
It has minimal effect on actual evetual internal temp. Make sure your coils are clean & try the blue ice thing.
I fiddled with the thermo on my unit, but everytime I tweaked it, the temp swing & settings changed considerably. Bear in mind I have a crappy Haier mini fridge unit & yours may have an internal f a c to ry fan. You still don't say what it is.

That is a serious looking unit.
I also like the JD leafblower, PBR sign & assortment of classic swimming pool vaccuum hoses.
At any rate, I don't know what to tell you at this point as I am not a refrigeration specialist however I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Also I don't know about your Z28 but I will put it up against my LS1 any day for a brew or 2.

Does the unit cycle on and off? If so then setting both the freezer and fridge temp dials to max cold is the best you're going to get assuming the freon level and gaskets are ok. I guess you could make an extra hole between the freezer and fridge compartment to let more air sink down there.

Just get yourself a real kegerator.

I have two "already made kegerators that suck". The Perlick started to freeze the water bottle the thermometer probe was in at 3/4 on the temp control knob. The Bev Air is sitting at 36 right now at 1/2 on the temp control knob.

Zero mods on either.

Zero for both.

The Perlick is a 97 and needed an evaporator fan motor and a door gasket. I replaced everything else with the SS versions and it has a Ventmatic forward seal faucet.

The Bev Air is a mid 80's model. I don't normally use it. Doors don't stay closed well but a bigass ratchet strap around the unit solves that.

Keep an ear out around restaurants, bars, and country clubs. They will give old equipment away.
