Default Sanyo/Summit or Beverage Air Kegerator for Guinness?

Hi all,

Great Forum! I get thirsty reading the posts! I am a Beer Tap Newbie, so please take it easy on me.

There is a substantial price difference, about $600 between the Sanyo/Summit Kegerator BC 1206, and the Beverage Air Kegerator BM23. I want my Kegerator to pour Guinness, so I will be buying the Guinness Conversion Kit. My question is: Will the Sanyo do the Job? Or, does the extra $600 for the BM23 buy you a whole lot more? I am not sure of their differences.

Anyone have any answers for me?

Thank you.

The Beverage Air is a commercial grade unit. In the long run you will probably have less issues with it. Keep the condenser clean & it will work for years.

And no, I don't work for Bev Air but I do work on them.

Welcome to the forums.

Later, THE ICEMAN

for a home system sanyo is great! Not sure how it will do for you though. Keeps beer at any temp you want.

Thanks Iceman and BeerSock. I will be using this in my home. It will be for me, friends, and adult family members. The use will be very moderate. For example, I believe a Keg of Guinness will last me three to four months. (Hopefully, the Guinness will still taste like Guinness.) I love the idea of being able to pour a Guinness from a Tap!

So, I gather that the Sanyo is a capable unit, but the Beverage Air is just more sturdy? Or does the Beverage Air have additional important features like a FAN OR MORE ROOM???

I guess what I keep looking at is for the price of the BM23, I could buy another Sanyo Unit at a later time, if I ever decided to add another tap to pour another quality beer. But; again, my main purpose is to pour Guinness, so I want to get a Kegerator that will do the job without me having to fix or tinker with things.

There is something special about Guinness on Tap!

Thanks.

The BevAir is most definitely the better product. It has commercial refrigeration, has a fan inside and is already equipped to cool the tower. Out in the field, I have seen units that have been used for twenty years with only minimal problems if any. As The Iceman said, keep the condenser clean and it should last for years. If you can afford it, the BM23 is the way to go. The downside is that it does not come with a CO2 tank or regulator. You would also have to order the CO2 gas kit. Tapman

Thanks Tapman. Yes, the Bev Air does seem the way to go. Although, after reading through many many posts on this forum and other forums, I am half way tempted to buy a chest freezer, conversion kit, and try to build a two keg Kegerator.

If I go that route, I just hope I don't end up like a comedy movie, where my project goes south, and I end up paying double money!

As has been said, go with the Bev Air. My backup unit is a DD78 from sometime in the 80's. Still works just fine.
