HELP - My Danby DKC445BLS is Broken.
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this. My Danby DKC644BLS recently stopped cooling and I dont know what to do. Danby has been nothing but trouble and will not service the unit. They told he to take it to Home Depot, where i bought it, but HD will not replace it. They only will give store credit.
I'd like to see if I can get this thing working. It seems like the the compressor/blower/motor thinger isn't running anymore. You can hear the unit is on by the idle electric hum but you can never get the fan or motor going.
any ideas?
i desperately want to drink some brews this holiday season!
thanks!

hey schwinn, first off welcome to the forum and sorry to hear bout your unit. Scott from micromatic is the moderator in here and troubleshooter as well. he might be on vacation now, but he will get back to you on your problem. to me, it sounds like a thermostat issue, like most of the cooling problems ive seen here in the recent months. hang in there

I too ran into the exact same problem with the Danby. It stopped cooling and their customer service was absolutely no help. I was a little luckier in that Sam's Club gave me cash and I was able to go someplace else and get the Haier. Does HD have any other brand(s)? I really like the Haier and it just seems to be a much sturdier appliance when compared to the Danby. If you go to danby.com, was there any servide dealers in your area? Maybe call one of them directly and they might come out and try and fix it.
Hope you're able to fix your problem.

Here is a past post from "dsprague" that may be helpful.

I checked it with 3 thermometers, putting them in a cup of water for a day and then checking the temp. I also poured beer in a cup and checked the temp with an instant thermometer and the temp was around 50 degrees. This was not acceptable. I called the company and spoke to Vicky Bish

She told me that they were having sporadic problems and were testing 50 units with results on 8/8/05. She sent me a new sensor but not before I was fed up and returned the unit to Sams Club. Now I am shopping for a new unit. I really liked the Danby except for the warm beer. I am considering the Haier or Sanyo, anyone have any suggestions.
