    Default 20L, 30L, and 50L European Kegs

Hello, I would like to know the exact dimensions of 20L, 30L, and 50L European kegs.

Are 20L kegs tall like a 1/6 barrel, or flat like a 1/4 barrel?

    Thanks

The 30L (7.9 gal) Franziskaner I have right now is 14" diameter, 16" tall.

I checked into that and found this link, which converts to 15.55" x 20.94". Hopefully that is a standard size, as I have a 50L of Dos Equis Amber waiting for my newly completed kegerator (pictures a few posts down).

    I have a 30L of Murphy's and it's 15 1/2" diameter and 14 1/2" tall.

seems to be a bit of discrepancy about the sizes for European sized kegs. over there is there not a set size requirements like there is here in the states??

I like how MM has the page for keg sizes but states nothing about the European kegs (that or I cant find it). this might make a great addition to the keg sizing page under the FAQ.

I have an English keg, which I assume is 50 liters, on tap now and it does seem extraordinarily wide (though I haven't had any 1/2 bbl kegs for comparison yet). Anyway, it was a very tight fit.

I'll try to remember to measure it when it's empty and post my findings here.

Even the kegs used here in the US can vary. You have the poly coated keg that Miller has used as well as the keg with the wide chimes that Coors utilizes.

The imported kegs very even more. Many regional breweries do have different styles of cooperage that they use. The problem in keeping track is when these breweries are not so regional anymore and now they are exporting this strange sized keg to the US.

As we grow and the website with it, more focus will be placed on these details. But for now are marketing and creative services departments are overwhelmed with requests. Hopefully when they catch their breath they can focus on this.

For now the best resource would be this forum. If you come across dimensions of a different size keg, take a picture and include the specifications. Hopefully a member will find the info via a search.
